“NEPTŪNAS” EARNED THEIR WAY INTO TO THE FINAL OF THE INTERNATIONAL 6 TEAM TOURNAMENT

The players from Klaipėda, “Neptūnas” made their way into the Final of the international 6 team tournament that is played for the Cup of the Mayors of Alytus city and District. On Monday evening, the players of Dainius Adomaitis defeated “Dzūkija”, a local team from Alytus, with the final score of 89:73 (18:15, 25:13, 23:29, and 23:15) and became the winner of group B.

We would like to remind you that the players from “Neptūnas” won against the team from Gdynia, “Asseco” (Poland) with the final score of 69:68 (18:16, 13:12, 19:20, 19:20).

At 19:30 on Tuesday, “Neptūnas” will face the winner from group A, the team from Vilnius, “Lietuvos rytas” in the tournament’s Final. The “Lietkabelis”, of Panevežys (2nd place in the group), “VEF”, of Riga (Latvia, 3rd place) were also the competitors in this subgroup.

During the game with “Dzūkija“, the players of “Neptūnas” dictated their conditions of the match; after halftime they were ahead by 15 points - 43:28 and the opponent did not even allow to think of victory.

“Nepūnas“ was led to victory by Donatas Zavackas and Arnas Butkevičius (6 assists) who scored 16 points each, 12 points were added by Martynas Mažeika and Daniel Eveng, 10 - Mindaugas Girdžiūnas, 7 - Jerai Grant, 6 - Simas Galdikas and Gilvydas Biruta each, 4 - Arvydas Šikšnius.

Among the ranks of the team from Alytus, Rytis Juknevičius scored 14, 12 were added by Nerijus Varnelis, Myles Mack, an American participating in a try-out, scored 9, 8 each by Adam Lapeta and Osvaldas Mačernis, and Travis Garison, a representative from the USA, on his try-out - 4.
